Kratom | what are the facts?

Kratom is a tropical tree found in Southeast Asia that contain compounds that have mild-altering effect. It's commonly seen in your local herbal supplement store.

In my practice, I consider herbal supplements as part of my accurate history taking. From what I have seen so far in talking to patients and especially on patients who have had withdrawal from Kratom the effects are similar to opioid effects. If Kratom is taking in smaller amounts then patients may see an increased in energy and mood. But please keep in mind that there are side effects including: nausea, dry mouth, loss of appetite, increase tearing, seizures, and hallucination.
