Medication Refill Policy

Refill Requests:

Don't hesitate to contact your pharmacy three business days before you need a medication refill. If you have remaining refills, the pharmacist can usually refill the medication, or they will submit a refill request to our office electronically, via fax, or by phone. You must notify the pharmacy on time when refills are needed.

Approval Time:

Refill approval may take up to three business days, so please request early. If you use a mail-order pharmacy, contact them at least 14 days before your medication is due to run out.

Controlled Substances:

If you need a refill for a controlled substance that your current provider is prescribing, please contact the clinic at least three days before you run out. Allow three days for the medication to be refilled. We do not mail or fax controlled substance prescriptions to pharmacies.

Office Hours:

Medication refills will only be processed during regular office hours (Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM). No prescriptions will be refilled on weekends, holidays, nights, or after hours. Please check with your pharmacy to verify if you are out of medication before contacting your provider.

Prior Authorization:

Some medications require prior authorization from your insurance. This process may involve several steps between your pharmacy and our staff. We will handle the prior authorization as quickly as possible, but please be aware that this process may take up to 2 weeks. Neither the pharmacy nor the provider can guarantee approval from your insurance company. Please check with your pharmacy or insurance company for updates.

Scheduled Appointments:

It is essential to keep your scheduled appointments to ensure timely refills. Repeated no-shows or cancellations may result in a denial of refills. All prescriptions require a follow-up appointment every 3 to 6 months or as determined by your provider.

Medication Questions:

If you have questions about your medications, please discuss them during your appointment.

Medication Adjustments:

If you believe your medication needs to be adjusted or changed, be sure to get in touch with us immediately to schedule a follow-up appointment.

New Symptoms:

New symptoms or health events require a clinic appointment. Your provider will not diagnose or treat conditions over the phone.

Plan Ahead:

We advise you to use prudent judgment and account for potential delays. Thank you for your patience as we work to provide the best care possible.
